4 Benefits of Tutoring You Haven't Thought About...
1. Tutoring gives your family time.
Tutoring sessions last about an hour. That time is well spent on the important to-do list for each student. That is exactly why sessions are individual tutoring sessions. No groups.
Every session is designed to work on what the student is doing in class! We want to save time, not add additional workload. Students are BUSY! Your child has obligations and commitments that allow little time for hours of study. A well organized hour of tutoring is working smarter not harder. I teach study skills that are practical and applicable to other classes.
2. Tutoring builds skills. Skills build confidence.
We work on the RIGHT strategies, encourage the RIGHT habits and develop the RIGHT routines for your child. Every student is different. In my experience, HOW to study is a missing piece for most students. We have to see how they naturally approach studying and build skills around that. I help students build skills and that builds confidence. That confidence will produce results now and when they get to college.
3. Tutoring organizes, prioritizes and helps track deadlines.
Parents don’t always get the information from their child. This causes a problem in effective planning. Parents feel the panic that comes from last minute information and deadlines. This leads to frustration, anger and too much anxiety.
Important deadlines and decisions are all part of the high school experience. Junior and senior years are especially intense. Priorities focused on college preparations, SAT Tests, ACT Tests, Common App and College Essays all become important. Tutoring can help navigate those deadlines and priorities. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like surprises. Tutoring can help reduce the panic and surprises!
4. Tutoring helps parents balance student independence and parent communication.
I get to work with parents that love their kids and want the very best for their futures. Unfortunately, we, as parents, don’t always get the information from their children. I get that! Our teenagers don’t always give us all of the information we need to plan ahead. We have to plan logistically, timely and financially. It is a balance between encouraging their independence and stepping in when they need extra help. I help take some pressure off of parents and give back a little peace of mind by keeping the lines of communication more open.
